Biography:
Eric led the team in wins last season with 12 wins and a 3.26 ERA. He also held opponents to a .257 batting average against him. Fussell is a native of Crestwood and attended Marist High School. The right-hander made his professional debut in 2006 with the Northern League’s Joliet JackHammers. Fussell went 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA in 19 games, primarily as a reliever. In his three games as a starter, he gave up just five earned runs and picked up his first professional win. “Eric throws three quality pitches for strikes and has a very professional approach on the mound. I just really appreciated the way he competed this past season,” said ThunderBolts manager Brian Nelson. Fussell played his college baseball at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN. He was a starter for the Pumas and compiled a 12-8 record with a 2.68 ERA over three seasons. He tossed ten complete games and two shutouts in his career and earned Honorable Mention All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors in 2006. Fussell is currently an assistant baseball coach for St. Joseph’s.
