Bolts blanked by Y'alls 6-1

FLORENCE, KY - The Windy City ThunderBolts dropped their second straight contest against the Florence Y’alls, 6-1 Saturday night at Thomas More University Stadium. 

 

A complete game by Florence starting pitcher Bobby Brabrand toppled the ThunderBolts (30-40) all night, giving up just one earned run on five hits while walking none and striking out seven.

 

Bren Spillane hit his tenth home run of the season in the top of the first inning, a solo shot to left field collecting a 1-0 Bolts lead.

 

In the bottom of the second, Florence all-star Craig Massey knocked a two-run double, giving the Y’alls a 2-1 lead. The next batsman, Brian Fuentes, hit a hard line drive at second base that snuck through for an RBI single and a 3-1 Florence lead.

 

The Y’alls (30-41) struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning. Following a bases loaded wild pitch for a run, Massey hit an RBI single for a 5-1 advantage. 

 

Lane Hoover knocked his third hit of the ball game, an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, potting a 6-1 score.

 

For Windy City, Will Riley and Spillane each had two hits and Peyton Isaacason had the lone other hit in the loss. 

 

Bolts starting pitcher Cole Bellair (2-8) took the loss. He threw five innings enduring five earned runs on seven hits in addition to walking three and striking out one.

 

The ThunderBolts and Y’alls wrap up their season series Sunday afternoon with a tentative 12:07 CT first pitch at Thomas More University Stadium. Logan Schmitt (4-2, 3.91) gets the start for the ThunderBolts. The broadcast can be found at wcthunderbolts.com.
