Bolts Lose Finale of High-Scoring Series

Florence, KY – The Windy City ThunderBolts lost the rubber game of a three-game series against the Florence Y’alls, 9-4, on Sunday afternoon at Thomas More Stadium. The Bolts and Y’alls combined for 56 runs over the three-game set.

For the second straight day, the Bolts (13-13) found themselves in a big hole early. Florence (9-17) scored the first nine runs, all in the opening four innings.

Alberti Chavez started Florence’s offense with a first inning RBI single. Florence scored three more in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run homer by Andres Sthormes. In the third, the Y’alls used five singles to score four runs. In the fourth, Chavez hit an inside-the-park homer to make it 9-0.

Windy City’s first run came home in the fifth inning, an RBI groundout for Jake VanderWal. In the seventh, Vander Wal hit a solo homer.

The final two runs for the Bolts crossed in the eighth inning. Dan Robinson scored on a double play ball. Peyton Isaacson collected an RBI double.

Bolts starter Garrett Christman (0-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs in 2.2 innings. Jonaiker Villalobos (2-3) won the game with six innings of one-run ball.
