CRESTWOOD, IL – The ThunderBolts finished off a 6-0 season against the Southern Illinois Miners at Standard Bank Stadium Sunday afternoon as they scored four late runs to come out on top by a 7-4 score.

Kyle Davis’s second-inning sacrifice fly for the Miners (34-35) started the scoring as they went ahead 1-0, but the ThunderBolts (31-42) answered immediately with RBI singles from Joe Becht and Omar Obregon in the bottom of the inning.

Max Dutto tied the score at two with a solo home run in the third and Southern Illinois reclaimed the lead when Joe Duncan drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth.

Ronnie Healy picked up an RBI on a double in the bottom of the fourth inning that tied the score at three but the back-and-forth ballgame went back towards the Miners the next frame on a Chance Shepard solo home run.

With the ThunderBolts trailing 4-3 in the sixth, Tyler Straub was hit by a pitch and Larry Balkwill hit a two-out, two-run homer to move ahead for good at 5-4. They added two insurance runs in the seventh as Healy and Becht singled in front of an Obregon RBI base hit and an Axel Johnson sacrifice fly.

Dan Hlad (2-2) led the way out of the ThunderBolts bullpen, throwing 1.2 perfect innings for the win. Overall, four relievers combined on 4.2 scoreless innings and Devin Raftery’s scoreless ninth gave him his 12th save.
