CRESTWOOD, IL – Riley Krane had a career-high four hits and Drake Robison held the Evansville Otters to one run over five innings in his first professional win as the ThunderBolts beat the Otters 5-2 at Standard Bank Stadium Wednesday morning. Evansville (32-23) got off to a great start as three of the first four batters reached, including Jeff Gardner, who singled home Ryan Long for the first run. Robison pitched out of the jam with a pickoff and a strikeout. The ThunderBolts (31-24) tied it up in the second. Riley Krane singled and Tim Zier walkled and, after a Corey Bass fielder’s choice, Ransom LaLonde’s two-out single scored Zier. They took their first lead the following inning as Coco Johnson singled and Kyle Wood walked. They were both aboard for Krane, who tripled, making the score 3-1. In the sixth inning, Zier singled and Bass walked before LaLonde once again came through with a two-out hit, scoring Zier. The ThunderBolts’ first four runs all scored with two outs. The Otters could not muster any offense in the middle innings despite putting a runner at third in the third and fifth. In the seventh inning, they had men at second and third with no outs but Josh Glick struck out Chris Sweeney and Kolten Yamaguchi and got Chris Riopedre to ground out. Krane’s fourth hit was a double with one out in the eighth. He would score on a Zier sacrifice fly to make the score 5-1. Evansville tacked on their final score on a Gardner home run in the ninth. Robison (1-2) allowed five hits in his five one-run innings to pick up the win and Luc Rennie (3-2) allowed four runs in 5.2 innings to take the loss. The ThunderBolts complete their run of three straight day games on Thursday. Jake Fisher (5-4, 3.47) gets the start for the Bolts against Felix Baez (3-4, 4.35). Standard Bank Stadium will once again be turned into a giant water park with dunk tanks, water balloons and more for Big Splash Day presented by Pirate’s Cay Indoor Water Park.
