Bolts and Crushers suspended in tenth

Bolts 3 Crushers 3

CRESTWOOD, IL – The ThunderBolts tied the Lake Erie Crushers at three in the bottom of the ninth inning before rain forced a postponement Friday night. The Bolts and the Crushers will pick up their 3-3 tie at Standard Bank Stadium in the bottom of the tenth on Saturday.

All fans with a ticket to Friday’s game can redeem them only for any game remaining in the 2015 season.

Lake Erie scored Friday’s first run after just three batters. Jose Barraza singled home Austin Prott to make it 1-0. Cameron Giannini, making his first professional start, settled down after that, retiring eight in a row, including at one point, six straight strikeouts.

Coco Johnson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the score at one, where it remained until the bottom of the seventh.

Cody Keefer singled to lead off for the ThunderBolts and came in to score on an Alex Chittenden base hit to give Windy City their first lead.

Lake Erie fought back, putting two men on base with two outs in the eighth when former ThunderBolt Daniel Aldrich drove them both in on a triple to make it 3-2.

In the bottom of the ninth, Ransom LaLonde doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch before a Chittenden sacrifice fly tied the game at three. Trevor Longfellow struck out Johnson to end the inning, sending it to the tenth.

The Crushers put a runner at second in the tenth before Emmanuel Quiles came up with a base hit but Keefer threw Anderson Hidalgo out at the plate to hold the tie at 3-3 before rain wiped out the rest of the game.

It will be picked up in the bottom of the tenth on Saturday night at 6:05. The regularly scheduled game will follow. Game two will be a seven-inning contest. Travis Tingle (5-6, 2.97) will start on the mound for the Bolts against Lake Erie’s Jason Wilson (1-4, 3.18). All Elvis Night festivities will go on as scheduled at Standard Bank Stadium, including a pregame concert by John Elvis Lyons. Standard Bank will sponsor a fireworks show after game two.
