Bolts win on White's walk-off

CRESTWOOD, IL – Max White’s walk-off double in the tenth broke a 3-3 tie with the Traverse City Beach Bums and sent the ThunderBolts to their third consecutive win.

Windy City took command of the game early with a three-run first inning. Andrew Brauer walked and Mike Torres singled to put runners at the corners with no outs for Ryan Soares, who singled home Brauer. Two batters later, Torres scored on Daniel Aldrich’s base hit and Garret Carey followed with a single that scored Soares.

The Beach Bums quickly cut into the lead with two runs in the second. Kevin Taylor singled and Josh Miller doubled. Greg Harisis grounded out, scoring Taylor and Jeff DeBlieux singled in Miller.

Both starting pitcher settled in as Josh Spence did not allow another run in his six total innings. Casey Delgado for Traverse City made it through seven and struck out ten.

Traverse City would tie the score in the seventh. DeBlieux singled and Jose Vargas walked before Yazy Arbelo hit a towering flyball to left that was misplayed by Aldrich, allowing DeBlieux to cross the plate and tie the score at three.

It remained tied heading into extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth, Ryan Soares reached on an error with one out and White followed with his game-winning double.

Jessie Snodgrass (3-1) gave up the lead, but did not allow another run in his four innings as he took the win. Chuck Ghysels (2-5), despite striking out the side in the ninth, allowed the winning run for the loss.

The ThunderBolts and Beach Bums wrap up their 2014 schedules on Thursday night at Standard Bank Stadium. Pete Whittingslow (0-1, 4.57) gets the start for the Bolts against Traverse City’s Ian MacDougall (6-3, 3.06). Three-time WWE Tag Team Champions Demolition will be in attendance and Blitz Pro Wrestling will feature a postgame show. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and fans not in attendance can hear the broadcast on WXAV 88.3 fm and wxav.com.
