The Windy City ThunderBolts have announced the signing of two right handed pitchers, Ian Durham and Rye Davis, both from the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
Ian Durham, a six foot four right hander born in Ventura, California, was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 28th round of the 2011 MLB amateur draft. Attending California Lutheran University, Durham was a 2010 Second Team All SCIAC selection. Last season as a member of the Gulf Coast Phillies, Philadelphia’s Rookie League team, Durham posted a 3.62 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched. He had an 1-1 record with 24 strike outs with only ten walks.
Rye Davis, a six foot five inch right hander, was born in Pig, Kentucky. Davis went to Western Kentucky University where he posted a career record of 7-13 with a 4.66 ERA and 160 strikeouts as opposed to 59 walks. Although he was drafted in the 36th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians, he chose to stay a Hilltopper for one more year before signing with the Phillies in 2011. While splitting time with the Phillies Rookie and A-ball teams, Davis pitched 17 games in relief with a 1-1 record and a 2.33 ERA.
