The Windy City ThunderBolts have bolstered their pitching staff for 2011 with the signing of Kyle Woodruff. Woodruff comes to the ThunderBolts out of the San Francisco Giants organization, where he was a 27th round draft pick in 2008. In three years with the Giants, the 6'6" 230 pound right-hander reached as high as San Jose, the team's High-A affiliate in the California League.
Woodruff has posted a 6-5 record and 3.14 ERA over his professional career, peeking in 2010, when he went 3-3 with a career-best 3.02 ERA in 25 games. In addition, he struck out 57 batters and walked just 23 in 83.1 innings. The 24-year-old Woodruff has spent the majority of his career coming out of the bullpen, but he did make eight starts for the San Jose Giants late last year.
The Windy City ThunderBolts are a member of the twelve-team Frontier League, the oldest professional independent baseball league in the nation. The ThunderBolts open the 2011 season at Standard Bank Stadium on Thursday, May 19th. Season tickets, flex plans, and all group tickets (including suites, picnics, party box, & spa) are on sale now!
