The Windy City ThunderBolts have added strength to an already stellar pitching staff with the acquisition of Paul Fagan. The ThunderBolts completed a trade with the Rockford RiverHawks on Wednesday sending RHP Jake McMurran to the RiverHawks for Fagan. Fagan is a 25 year old left-handed pitcher out of Jacksonville, FL. He began his professional career right after high school when he was drafted in the 4th round by the Seattle Mariners.
He played 5 seasons of affiliated baseball being promoted as high as A+ with the High Desert Mavericks. In 2008, he briefly played for the Sioux City Explorers of the American Association. 2009 was Fagan’s best year statistically as he played for the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. He pitched in 22 games while acquiring a 14-3 record with a 2.70 ERA. He also struck out 83 batters in 140 innings pitched which earned Fagan Most Valuable Pitcher of the Frontier League.
Last season Paul Fagan split time between 3 different independent ball clubs from the New Jersey Jackals, the Joliet JackHammers, and the Newark Bears. 2011 will be Fagan’s return to the Frontier League which undoubtedly proved to be his most successful stop over his tenured career. Fagan’s return to the Frontier League should coincide with the ThunderBolts return to Frontier League prowess.
The Windy City ThunderBolts are a member of the twelve-team Frontier League, the oldest professional independent baseball league in the nation. The ThunderBolts open the 2011 season at Standard Bank Stadium on Thursday, May 19th. Season tickets, flex plans, and all group tickets (including suites, picnics, party box, & spa) are on sale now! Single-game tickets for the 2011 season go on sale Saturday, April 30th. For more information please call 708.489.BALL or visit wcthunderbolts.com.
