The Windy City ThunderBolts are proud to announce that Field Manager Mike Kashirsky has signed a contract extension through the 2011 season. After a Division Series exit in 2010, Mike and the ThunderBolts have some unfinished business as they will look to recaputre the Frontier League crown this upcoming season.
Kash has been with the organization since the ThunderBolts first year in 2004. He has been a member of the coaching staff for two Frontier League titles, three division championships, and four post-season apperences. Kash was named bench coach of the club in 2004 season and was a big part of the 2007 club that won the league title. He was Bench Coach up until the mid-way point of the 2008 season where he was named Interim Field Manager. He would go 37-14 with the interim tag and would lead the Bolts to their second stright league championship. In 2009 Kash took the position of Hitting Coach, giving him more time to work with his Robert Morris University team. That 2009 team would make the playoffs. Last season was Kash's first as Field Manager where he led the ThunderBolts to a 56-38 record and a West Division title.
General Manager Mike Lucas commented on the contract extension, "Resigning Kash was a high priority for us as an organization. We are thrilled to have him back in 2011, and we know that Kash will have another great year."
"I am honored and excited to back for the 2011." said Kash, "I really look forward to working with Mike Lucas and the staff to put a great show on both on and off the field."
