After having four players signed by Major League organizations during the 2010 season, the ThunderBolts announced three more players moving up during the off-season. The contracts of pitcher Ryan Bollinger has been purchased by the Chicago White Sox. On the same day, Andrew Werner and Rod Scurry were purchased by the San Diego Padres.
Ryan Bollinger was another late addition to the Windy City bullpen in 2010. After joining the team in late-July, he did not allow a run in six appearances. He continued his success in the postseason, hurling one and a third scoreless frames against Traverse City. Bollinger is a converted first baseman who was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and spent a year in their system before becoming a pitcher and joining the Bolts. He joins former ThunderBolts Dylan Axelrod, Brandon Kloess, Dan Remenowsky and Marcus Spencer in the White Sox farm system.
Standard Bank Stadium has become a pipeline to affiliated baseball as the ThunderBolts have had 16 players signed by big league organizations since the start of the 2009 season, more than any other Frontier League team.
