With the season quickly approaching the Windy City ThunderBolts have made a big signing with Ryne White. Ryne is a left-handed hitter, who spent the majority of his professional career at first base. Ryne played his high school baseball at nearby St. Rita. After he graduated from St. Rita, he headed to Purdue University to play baseball. In 2007, Ryne had a remarkable .452 batting average for the Boilermakers.
The following year Ryne was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th round. The majority of his first year of professional baseball was spent in Missoula at the Rookie level. He batted .274 with 7 home runs and 38 runs batted in. With his time with the Diamondbacks organization the highest level he reached was Advanced A ball. In 2009, for the Visalia Rawhide he was an excellent run producer with a .266 average and 52 RBI.
Earlier this year Ryne was playing with the Daytona Cubs. In his brief stint there he played in 11 games and had an average of .182. The Windy City ThunderBolts are very excited to bring Ryne back to the Chicago area for the 2010 season. He looks to knock in a number of runs from the left side of the plate.
The ThunderBolts open up the regular season on Thursday, May 20th against the Kalamazoo Kings at 7:05 p.m. in Crestwood. Tickets are also on sale now and can be purchased at the ThunderBolts office, online at
