Bill “Moose” Skowron will be attending Pet Day 2009 on August 14th as the Windy City ThunderBolts take on the Washington Wild Things. He will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 7:05 PM start time.
“Moose” is a Chicago native and former first basemen, who played for the New York Yankees (‘54-‘62), Los Angeles Dodgers (‘63), Chicago White Sox (‘64-‘67), and California Angels (’67). He was a six time All-Star (‘57, ‘58, ‘59, ‘60, ‘61, ‘65) and played for five World Series Championship teams (’56 Yankees, ’58 Yankees, ’61 Yankees, ’62 Yankees and ’63 Dodgers) during his career. Skowron was a career .282 hitter and collected 211 homeruns and 888 runs batted in. He now serves as a community relations representative for the Chicago White Sox.
