'BOLTS ARE BACK!!!!

After being gone for the past ten days, the Windy City ThunderBolts, 2007 and 2008 Frontier League Champions, return to Standard Bank Stadium on Thursday, July 23 to open a six-game homestand against the front-running River City Rascals and the Evansville Otters.

As with the entire 2009 season, all home games feature the ThunderBolts Value Menu, with hot dogs, fountain soft drinks, popcorn, and sno kones available for just $1 each!

Windy City looks to exact revenge against first place River City, who swept the ThunderBolts during their meeting in Missouri at the end of June, starting on Thursday night. Thursday’s game is a Thirsty Thursday, with draft beer available for $1 throughout the game.

Friday’s contest is Union Night, with union members receiving half-price ($5) tickets by showing their union card at the Standard Bank Stadium box office. The first 1,000 fans through the gates at Standard Bank Stadium will receive a free ThunderBolts’ t-shirt compliments of All Chicago Fleet. Also, Friday is a Fill ‘R Up Friday with $1 draft beer all game.

Saturday is the ‘Bolts Country Night, with The Paul Avers Band performing prior to the game. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free cowbell compliments of Standard Bank and Trust, and the game will conclude with a fireworks extravaganza.

The Evansville Otters open a three-game series on Sunday. Sunday’s game is Biker Night, with a pre-game parade around the warning track of motorcycles and prizes being handed out for people's choice, best paint, best custom, best bike, and most unique. Bikers can receive discounted admission of $7 by participating in the parade. It’s also a Standard Bank Sunday, with buy-one-get-one free admission for Standard Bank customers by bringing in the coupon from area Standard Bank branches or clipping it from the Regional/Reporter Newspapers.

Monday brings the first of two late morning games to end the homestand, with a special 11:05 am start for Stitch ‘N Pitch Day. Fans are encouraged to knit, crochet, embroider, cross-stitch and needlepoint in an event held in conjunction with the National Needle Arts Association and the Helping Hands Foundation.

The homestand concludes with another 11:05 am start on Tuesday for our second Big Splash Day of the season. Tuesday’s game is geared towards area summer camp and park and recreation programs, as Standard Bank Stadium will be turned into a water park, complete with a dunk tank, squirt guns, splash pools, and a slip-n-slide.

Game times for this upcoming homestand are 7:05 pm Thursday-Saturday, 6:05 pm on Sunday, and 11:05 am on Monday and Tuesday. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.wcthunderbolts.com, stop by the Standard Bank Stadium box office, or call the team at 708-489-BALL (2255).
