The Windy City ThunderBolts are pleased to announce that J. T. Restko has been named one of the three manager’s selections to the West Division All-Star squad and that Mike Kashirsky has been chosen as one of the team’s coaches.
A native of Tinley Park, IL, Restko is has emerged as one of the league’s top run producers, hitting at .319 and is leading the ThunderBolts with nine homers and 31 RBI.
“(Restko) is a guy who can win a game for you with one swing of the bat,” said Windy City manager Tommy Thompson. “He can play first base, he can play leftfield and he can DH. He’s got versatility and he’s done it for us all year.”
Bolts bench/first base coach Mike Kashirsky will be making his third appearance as a coach on the All-Star team. Kashirsky represented the West Division in 2006 in Evansville and in 2007 in Florence. Kashirsky guided Windy City to a 34-12 record in the second half of 2008 en route to the Western Division title and their second consecutive Frontier League championship. Most recently, he guided Robert Morris to a school record 34 wins, a 27 win upgrade over the 2008 season.
Windy City will play a doubleheader against Kalamazoo on Thursday starting at 6:05 p.m. with Ross Stout and Tyler Kelsey on the mound for Windy City. The first 1000 fans 21 and over will receive a ThunderBolts pint glass courtesy of City Beverage. It is also a Thirsty Thursday with 12 oz domestic draft beers at $1. Friday the Traverse City Beach Bums come to town for their only visit of the season with a Fill ’R Up Friday and Camp Out Night at Standard Bank Stadium.
