Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts announce that first baseman / designated hitter Justin Schuda's contract was sold to the Kansas City Royals organization on February 15.
Everyone from the fans to the front office treated me and the entire team great, said an elated Schuda. I had my best professional baseball season here in Windy City and thank you for that. I hope to make everyone proud.
In 2005, Schuda hit 26 home runs to lead the Frontier League. For his efforts, he was named the Frontier Leagues All-Star designated hitter. On July 26, 2005, Schuda had 9 RBI to tie the league record held by former ThunderBolt P-Nut Williams.
Schuda, who joined the ThunderBolts in 2005, was originally drafted out of high school in the 27th round by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1999. He played in the D-Rays farm system through 2002.
