THUNDERBOLTS TRADE FOR HURLER
Right-hander Brandon Kloess Acquired from Texarkana Gunslingers
Crestwood, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts professional baseball team, 2007 and 2008 Frontier League Champions, had announced the completion of a trade with the Texarkana Gunslingers of the Continental League. Windy City has acquired right-handed pitcher Brandon Kloess in exchange for a player to be named later.
Kloess signed with Texarkana after finishing his collegiate eligibility at Florida Atlantic University. For the FAU Owls in 2008, Kloess appeared in eleven games, four as the starting pitcher. He posted a 1-1 record and 8.89 ERA over 28.1 innings while striking out 21 batters. His 2007 season included a 2-1 record and 7.25 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 22.1 innings over 12 games (three starts).
Kloess’ best season was in 2005 when he posted an 8-2 record and 4.17 ERA over 18 games (nine starts) and struck out 48 batters in 58.1 innings. Kloess ranked finished second on the Owls’ staff in victories and posted the second lowest ERA among starting pitchers.
“Brandon has been working out in Florida with Tommy Thompson, our new field manager,” commented ThunderBolts general manager Steve Tahsler. “Tommy has spoken highly of Brandon and expects him to provide depth to our pitching staff this season.”
