Crestwood, IL - Former Windy City ThunderBolts pitcher Chris Hayes completed his first season of affiliated baseball in 2006 and had an outstanding year for the Class A Burlington Bees.
Hayes went 3-6 with a 2.66 ERA and seven saves in 45 games for Burlington in 2006. He led the team in appearances and his seven saves were good for third best. Hayes struck out 47 and walked only 16 batters in 67.2 innings.
The right-hander had a stretch of 20 consecutive innings from late April to early June during which he allowed just one unearned run, one walk, and picked up three saves.
The Northwestern University product was with the ThunderBolts for the 2005 season and went 4-1 with a 2.41 ERA and nine saves. The Kansas City Royals signed Hayes this past February and sent him to Burlington after spring training.
The most recent ThunderBolt to be signed by an organization was catcher Charlie Lisk. He was signed by the San Diego Padres last month.
