September 26, 2006 - Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts announced today that they have signed Andy Haines to manage the 2007 ThunderBolts.
Andy has the experience and the baseball connections to put together a winning roster, ThunderBolts General Manager Tom OReilly said. He has a great sense for talent and a hard work ethic that will bring out the best in every player. Im certain his personality will make him a fan favorite as well.
Haines comes to the ThunderBolts from the Gary SouthShore Railcats of the Northern League where he was the teams hitting coach and assistant director of player personnel. During his tenure with Gary, the Railcats were the Northern League champions in 2005 and Eastern Division champions in 2006.
I am excited to be named the manager of the ThunderBolts, stated Haines. I look forward to the challenge and to bringing a winning team to the ThunderBolts fans.
This will be the Williamsport (TN) residents second tour in the Frontier League, but the first as a manager. In 2002 he served under Railcats manager Greg Tagert as a coach for the Dubois Dragons, who won the West Division championship with a 52-32 record.
Being a successful coach and manager in every professional and college program he has worked, Haines has reached the post-season six times out of seven seasons.
