The Windy City ThunderBolts have announced that the Oak Lawn Special Recreation Athletic Support Association (SRASA) will be one of the four non-profit organizations that will be represented at the 2023 Frontier League Skills Competition on Tuesday, July 11th at Ozinga Field.
The skills competition will feature four teams of five Frontier League all-stars each, competing against one another in a variety of baseball skills, including hitting, bunting, throwing and home run hitting. Each of the five-man teams will be representing a non-profit organization. The overall winning team’s NPO will receive a $2,000 donation. There will be further donations given out to the NPOs of individual contest winners.
SRASA has been selected to be one of the four non-profits taking part in the skills competition. Each of the five players on one of the four teams will be wearing special jerseys that feature the SRASA logo. Fans can now purchase their own SRASA jersey with half of the proceeds going to the organization.
The purpose of the SRASA is to raise money and other donated articles to enhance the experience of all athletic participants enrolled in Oak Lawn Special Recreation programs.
Special Recreation offers a wide range of programs throughout many Cook County communities with a mission of positively impacting individuals with disabilities through diverse recreation opportunities and community services. They also provide quality Special Olympics training programs in several sports for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The SRASA was formed to help those athletes and their families with costs that go beyond the normal registration, such as uniforms and equipment.
The Frontier League Skills Competition begins at 6:30 pm on Tuesday July, 11. After the event, fans are invited onto the field to play catch and get autographs from all of the Frontier League all-stars. See you in July!
