The Windy City ThunderBolts have announced that the Do It Stevie’s Way 2 19 Foundation will be one of the four non-profit organizations that will be represented at the 2023 Frontier League Skills Competition on Tuesday, July 11th at Ozinga Field.
The Skills Competition will feature four teams of five Frontier League all-stars each, competing against one another in a variety of baseball skills, including hitting, bunting, throwing and home run hitting. Each of the five-man teams will be representing a non-profit organization. The overall winning team’s NPO will receive a $2,000 donation. There will be further donations given out to the NPOs of individual contest winners.
Do It Stevie’s Way has been selected to be one of the four non-profits taking part in the Skills Competition. Each of the five players on one of the four teams will be wearing special jerseys that feature the DISW logo. Fans can now purchase their own Do It Stevie’s Way jersey with half of the proceeds going to the organization. The other three participating non-profits and jerseys for the July 11th Skills Competition will be announced later in the week.
The Do It Stevie’s Way Foundation was founded in 2010 by Mark and Karen Bajenski, the parents of Stevie Bajenski, who died at the age of 17 in 2009 from a congenital heart defect. Stevie had been the starting second baseman at Mount Carmel High School and now, a memorial high school baseball tournament is played in his honor every year.
The money raised by the Do It Stevie’s Way Foundation is used to promote a variety of causes that capture the spirit of Stevie Bajenski and the way he lived his life. It has been contributing to the lives of kids through scholarships and charitable donations for over a decade.
The Frontier League Skills Competition begins at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 11th. After the event, fans are invited onto the field to play catch and get autographs from all of the Frontier League all-stars. See you in July!
