The Windy City ThunderBolts have announced Christmas Without Cancer as one of the two non-profits that will be represented at the 2023 Frontier League All-Star Game Wednesday, July 12th at Ozinga Field.
The All-Star Game will pit the Frontier League’s East Division against the West Division and each team will be playing to raise money for a local non-profit organization. The winning team’s non-profit will receive a $3,000 donation while the losing team’s will receive a contribution of $1,000.
Christmas Without Cancer has been selected to be the East Division team’s represented non-profit. All of the all-stars voted in from the eight East Division ballclubs will be wearing special jerseys for the July 12th All-Star Game that feature the Christmas Without Cancer logo. Fans can now purchase their own Christmas Without Cancer East Division jersey with half of the proceeds going to the organization. Other participating non-profits and jerseys will be announced the next few weeks.
Christmas Without Cancer was founded in Oak Lawn, Illinois in 2003 by an oncology nurse with the mission of providing gifts and basic necessities to Chicagoland families who have members stricken with cancer. Over the past two decades, the organization has identified thousands of Southland families in need and supplied them with gift cards for groceries, medications, gas and other “need” items at Christmastime.
“Our organization is honored to be a part of the All Star game and we look forward to seeing our CWC families and supporters pack the stands for this ultimate summer event,” said Renee Copeland, Vice President.
In recent years, thanks to generous donations and successful fundraisers, Christmas Without Cancer has expanded to provide relief to families affected by cancer year-round.
The Frontier League All-Star Game begins at 6:30 pm on Wednesday July, 12th. Gates will open at 4:00 to give fans the chance to watch batting practice and meet the all-stars on the field. The game will be followed by a special fireworks show. See you in July!
