The 2007 Frontier League Champion Windy City ThunderBolts professional baseball team has announced that infielder Josh Horn and right-handed pitcher Brock Hunton have agreed to contracts for the 2008 season. Both Horn and Hunton represented the ThunderBolts in the 2007 Frontier League All-Star Game.
Josh Horn made his professional debut with Windy City last season, finishing with a .302 batting average, 19 doubles, seven home runs, and 53 RBI splitting time between second and third base. Horn came to the ThunderBolts out of Middle Tennessee State University, where former ‘Bolts field manager Andy Haines served as his hitting coach. Horn hit .330 with 15 doubles, six home runs, and 37 RBI during his senior season with the Blue Raiders.
Brock Hunton also made his professional debut last season. Hunton, who was the second overall pick in the 2007 Frontier League Draft, posted a 10-6 record with a 2.96 ERA (7th in the Frontier League) while striking out 98 batters (fourth in the FL) and walking only 36 in 100.1 innings. Hunton pitched collegiately at the University of North Alabama, combining for a 14-6 record and 3.61 ERA in two seasons while setting the Lions career record with 194 strikeouts.
“I am really excited to have both Josh and Brock back with the Thunderbolts,” commented field manager Brian Nelson. “Josh will be making the full-time switch to 2nd base and Brock will be a top of the rotation starter for the 2008 Thunderbolts. The leadership and success they both had on the field put them at the top of the list to resign for 2008."
