CRESTWOOD, IL – Travis Tingle pitched six solid innings, Ryan Deitrich had three hits and the ThunderBolts wrapped up a three-game series with a 4-2 win over the River City Rascals at Standard Bank Stadium Thursday night.
The ThunderBolts (37-50) jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Austin Gallagher walked and Max White singled. Ransom LaLonde and Ryan Deitrich followed with back-to-back RBI base hits.
River City (49-38) immediately tied the score. With one out in the second inning, Josh Ludy walked and Casey Rodrigue singled. They both scored on a Curran Redal hit.
Back-to-back two out hits gave Windy City the lead back for good in the following inning. Coco Johnson singled and Mike Torres doubled him in.
They added their final run in the fifth. Deitrich doubled and Alex Chittenden and Nico Zych were both hit by pitches to load the bases. The ThunderBolts scored their fourth two-out run of the game when Johnson brought home Deitrich on an infield single.
Tingle got off to a rough start but settled down as the game went on. He struck out the side in the fifth after a Taylor Ard leadoff single and retired six of the last seven batters he faced. The bullpen picked up where he left off as Joel Lima and Tommy Nance combined on three perfect innings.
Tingle (6-7) struck out a season-high eight in the win while Joe Scanio (9-6) allowed four runs in five innings for the loss. Nance earned his second save.
With just three games remaining at home this season, the ThunderBolts will welcome the Joliet Slammers to town for a three-game series beginning Friday. Jake Fisher (4-6, 5.25) will be the ThunderBolts starter in game one. It is Budweiser Fill ‘R Up Friday with $1.25 beers as well as a pint glass giveaway courtesy of Lakeshore Beverage.
