Rasclas 4 Bolts 1
CRESTWOOD, IL – Dane Stone held the ThunderBolts to just two hits over seven innings as the Bolts the Bolts opened their final homestand of the year with a 4-1 loss to the River City Rascals Tuesday night.
River City (48-37) jumped on the scoreboard early with a run in the second inning. Hector Crespo singled, stole second, moved to third on an error and crossed the plate on a Josh Ludy groundout.
They added another run the following inning. Curran Redal singled and scored on a two-out Zach Kometani double.
The ThunderBolts (36-49), meanwhile could not figure out Stone. Mike Torres walked in the fourth inning, the first Windy City baserunner, but he was erased on a double play. They were hitless into the seventh inning, when Coco Johnson led off with a single to break up the no-hit bid. Torres followed with a single, putting runners at the corners with no outs. Another double play followed, though, with Johnson getting thrown out at the plate to end the threat.
River City cemented their lead with two runs in the eighth. They loaded the bases on a double, a walk and an error. Jackson Slaid knocked in two runs on a single.
Ransom LaLonde’s solo homer in the bottom of the eighth was the ThunderBolts’ only run.
