Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts and Standard Bank and Trust Co. announced today that Hawk Ford Field will now be known as Standard Bank Stadium. Built in 1999, the former Hawk Ford Field was home to the Cook County Cheetahs until 2004 when the team came under new ownership and became the Windy City ThunderBolts.
According to Larry Kelley, President and CEO of Standard Bank, “We are very happy to associate ourselves with the Windy City ThunderBolts. As a locally owned bank, we are proud to display our dedication and commitment to the community through this sponsorship.” Echoing those sentiments, Chairman Tim Gallagher added “this week marks our 60th anniversary in the community.”
Tom O’Reilly, General Manager of the Windy City ThunderBolts, said, “We are thrilled that Standard Bank has invested in the ThunderBolts. The Standard Bank name is a welcome addition to our team and a win-win situation for all. While it helps build brand awareness for Standard Bank, revenue from the naming rights will be used for changes within the stadium that will enhance the enjoyment of the game for the fans.”
Crestwood is home to the professional minor league baseball team. The Windy City ThunderBolts are an independent team competing in the Frontier League. The stadium holds up to 3,200 people and features one of the few upper decks in a minor league ballpark. The stadium also features a fan deck on the first base line, a kid’s zone, catered picnic areas, skybox suites, concession stands and a beer garden.
