Bolts Finish Strong, Saw Washington 10-4

WASHINGTON, PA- The Windy City ThunderBolts scored seven runs in the second inning and brought the bats out in Washington, concluding the 2023 regular season Sunday evening by defeating the Wild Things 10-4. 

 

Washington (47-49) took the lead in the bottom of the first inning via an Andrew Czech two-run single. 

 

In the top of the second, Jake Boone blasted a hard hit ball to centerfield that could not be contained on a sliding grab by Caleb McNeely for an inside the park home run, giving Windy City (43-52) a 3-2 advantage. 

 

Following a Will Riley triple, Matt Morgan ripped an RBI double. Bren Spillane doubled in a run and then Micah Yonamine singled home two for a 7-2 Bolts lead. Yonamine finished the season driving in 53 runs to lead the club. The Bolts batted through the order scoring seven runs in the second inning. 

 

Anthony Brocato drove in an RBI single in the bottom of the third, making the score 7-3. 

 

Bren Spillane jolted his 16th home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning, propelling Windy City to a 9-3 lead. 

 

Caleb McNeely hit his third home run of the season for the Wild Things in the bottom of the eighth.

 

Peyton Isaacson knocked three hits in the victory, and all but two ThunderBolts had hits in the ballgame. 

 

Morgan knocked an RBI single in the 9th, collecting a three-hit evening.

 

Logan Schmitt (7-4) tossed 6.1 innings surrounding five hits over three earned runs walking two and striking out three.
