Bolts Drop Fourth Straight Game

JOLIET, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts took an early lead but couldn’t overcome six unanswered runs by the Joliet Slammers in a 6-2 loss on Friday night at Duly Health and Care Field. It was the fourth straight loss for the Bolts (18-23).

Windy City found the scoreboard first. In the second inning, Brian Fuentes singled and Jake Boone doubled, setting up Brynn Martinez for a two-run single.

Joliet’s (22-22) first of six unanswered runs came in the fourth inning. Matt McGarry hit a solo homer.

In the fifth, a throwing error by Brynn Martinez allowed the tying run to score. A wild pitch brought the go-ahead run to the plate, scoring JP Fullerton. Later in the inning, McGarry hit his second homer of the night, a two-run shot.

Joliet concluded its scoring with an insurance RBI double by Matt Burch in the seventh.

Cole Cook (6-3) shut the Bolts bats down after the second frame, pitching 7.1 innings, giving up two runs and earning the win. Garrett Christman (0-2) took the loss for the Bolts, yielding five runs in 6.2 innings.
