Bolts Clinch Series in Joliet, Complete Winning Road Trip

JOLIET, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts earned a series victory with a 9-1 win over the Joliet Slammers on Thursday night at DuPage Medical Group Field. The Bolts (23-33) closed their seven-game road trip with four wins and three losses.

Joliet appeared to take the first lead of the night in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Dvorak, but Braxton Davidson left third base early and the Bolts won an appeal at third base, wiping the run off the board.

The game was locked in a scoreless tie until the seventh inning, when the Bolts scored three runs without a ball put in play. Three walks led to three runs for the Bolts, all scoring on wild pitches.

In the eighth, the Bolts piled on with three more runs. Jack Strunc had an RBI double, John Sechen a sacrifice fly and Payton Robertson an RBI single.

The Slammers collected a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Bolts closed strong with three more runs in the ninth. John Sechen and Brynn Martinez had RBI singles. Robertson bounced into a double play to score the final run of the night.

Miguel Ausua (6-2) threw six shutout innings for the second straight start, earning the win. Cal Djuraskovic picked up his first save, allowing one run over the final three innings. Brad VanAsdlen (1-3) took the loss, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings.
