Bolts Drop Fourth in a Row

EVANSVILLE, IN – The Windy City ThunderBolts lost their fourth straight game, 7-1, at the hands of the Evansville Otters on Saturday night at Bosse Field. The Bolts (9-12) allowed seven unanswered runs.

In the third inning, a Dan Robinson double placed runners at second and third with less than two outs. Brynn Martinez followed with an RBI ground out to give the Bolts the lead.

The first of Evansville’s seven unanswered runs came in the next half inning. Andy DeJesus plated a run on a sacrifice fly. In the fourth, two errors cost the Bolts. The first, a grounder to shortstop allowed Elijah Macnamee to reach. He later scored on a dropped infield pop up, putting the Otters (16-6) in front 2-1.

The Otters extended the lead in the fifth and seventh. A two-run homer from Riley Krane boosted the Evansville lead to 4-1. In the seventh, RBIs from Krane and J.R. Smith put the game out of reach.

Tyler Thornton (3-2) suffered the loss for the Bolts. He threw six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits. Austin Gossmann (2-0) tossed seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win.
