CRESTWOOD, IL – The ThunderBolts scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to overcome a 3-0 deficit and carried that big inning to a 5-3 win over the Evansville Otters at Standard Bank Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

Behind 3-0, the ThunderBolts (6-4) started the bottom of the inning with an Ishmael Edwards single. He moved to second base on an error and scored on a David Oppenheim single. Oppenheim moved up to second on the throw home, allowing him to score on Tyler Straub’s single. Riley Krane reached on a dropped third strike and both he and Straub crossed the plate on a Larry Balkwill double that gave the Bolts the 4-3 lead.

They added a run in the fifth, loading the bases on a hit, a walk and an error. With two outs, Ransom LaLonde drew the second walk of the inning to force in the fifth run.

Evansville threatened by putting a runner at second base in the fifth and eighth innings but did not score again.

Patrick Ledet allowed three runs in 4.2 innings, and the bullpen followed with 4.1 shutout frames, allowing only one combined hit. Chris DeRue (1-1) retired all four batters he faced for his first pro win and Devin Raftery threw a perfect ninth for his fourth save.
