ThunderBolts rally for another win at Lake Erie

Bolts 7 Crushers 4

AVON, OH – For the second straight night, the ThunderBolts erased an early 1-0 deficit with seven unanswered runs as they captured their fifth consecutive series with a 7-4 win over the Lake Erie Crushers at Sprenger Stadium Wednesday night.

Parker Norris hit a leadoff double in the first inning for Lake Erie (7-11) and scored on a Cody Lenahan groundout to give the Crushers the early lead.

The ThunderBolts (12-6) tied the score in the third. David Kerian was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on a Keenyn Walker single. They took the lead in the fourth inning as Blair Beck singled, stole second and crossed the plate on a Tim Zier base hit. Zier would score later in the inning when Kerian reached on an error.

The Crushers’ best chance to get back in the game was in the seventh as they put runners on second and third with no outs. Brady Muller pitched out of the jam without allowing a run. Muller allowed only three hits in seven innings of work in the game.

The Bolts piled on with a run in the eighth as Zier picked up another RBI single. They added three runs in the ninth. Ransom LaLonde doubled and scored when Walker did the same. After a Coco Johnson walk, Kyle Wood and Beck came up with back-to-back run-scoring singles to make the score 7-1.

Lake Erie made it interesting in the ninth, scoring three runs on four walks and an error. But Brian Loconsole came in and shut the door for his league-leading seventh save.

Muller (3-1) picked up the win and Adam Quintana allowed three runs in six innings for the loss.

The ThunderBolts take Thursday off before returning to action on Friday night in Schaumburg. They begin a three-game set against the Boomers with Kyle Von Ruden (1-0, 1.37) on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 and the game broadcast can be heard on WXAV 88.3 FM and wxav.com.
