CRESTWOOD, IL – Austin Gallagher hit two home runs including the game-winner as the ThunderBolts knocked off the Gateway Grizzlies for the second straight game 5-4 at Standard Bank Stadium Wednesday night.

Gallagher’s first shot came in the first inning, putting the ThunderBolts (29-38) ahead 1-0.

Grant Buckner answered with a solo homer for the Grizzlies (24-43), tying the score at one. Gateway took their first lead the next inning when Cody Livesay walked and scored on a Ben Waldrip sacrifice fly.

They took the lead with a two-run fourth. Tyler Tewell singled and Richard Seigel reached on an error. They scored on RBI singles from Livesay and Seth Heck, respectively. Craig Massoni followed with a base hit that appeared as if it would score Livesay but Heck was thrown out after rounding second base to end the inning before Levisay could score.

In the sixth, Torres singled in front of Gallagher, who hit his second homer of the night to put Windy City on top 5-4.

The Grizzlies threatened in the ninth, putting runners at the corners with one out, but Joel Lima pitched out of it, getting Massoni to ground into a game-ending double play.

Jake Fisher (3-6) earned the win, allowing four runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings while Jordan Wellander (2-2) took the loss out of the Gateway bullpen. Lima picked up his fourth save.
