Fisher dominates as Bolts beat Lake Erie07/04/2015 7:52 PM
AVON, OH – Jake Fisher threw seven shutout innings as the ThunderBolts decisively snapped a six-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over the Lake Erie Crushers at All Pro Freight Stadium Saturday night. Austin Gallagher hit the first pitch of the second inning over the left field wall to put the ThunderBolts (16-26) ahead 1-0. That run would be all the Bolts would need but they added another later in the inning when Marquis Riley doubled and Ransom LaLonde singled him in, extending his hitting streak to eight games. Tyler Clark led off the fifth inning with a walk and scored on a Jonathan Garcia two-out single for a 3-0 lead. Fisher allowed only two hits and three total baserunners through the first six innings. He had separate streaks of seven and eight consecutive batters retired. Fisher kept the game close until his offense blew it open in the seventh. Mike Torres and Garcia each singled and Jacob Tanis walked to load the bases in front of Riley, who singled home one run. Max White’s sacrifice fly made it 5-0 and LaLonde cleared the bases with a double, giving Windy City the 7-0 advantage. Fisher (2-4) allowed just four hits total and did not issue a walk in his seven innings to earn the win. He struck out two. Joel Lima and James Ferguson each pitched a hitless inning of relief. Zach Morton (2-1) suffered his first loss for the Crushers (16-25) as he allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings. The ThunderBolts will wrap up their six-game road trip on Sunday in the finale against Lake Erie. Austin Wright (2-6, 4.50) will oppose the Crushers’ Hunter Adkins (1-3, 2.13). First pitch from All Pro Freight Stadium is scheduled for 1:05 and the radio broadcast can be heard on WXAV 88.3 FM and wxav.com. |
