ThunderBolts and Wild Things Suspended Due to Rain

CRESTWOOD-- Washington and Windy City played 3 and 2/3 innings Saturday evening, before the game was suspended due to rain.  At the time of the suspension, Washington held a 3-1 lead over the ThunderBolts.

The Wild Things were first to score as they put up three runs in the beginning frame.  Gus Benusa led off the game with a single and later came around to score along with Mark Samuelson on Jovan Rosa’s two-out double.   Washington put one more run across as Rick Devereaux plated Rosa with a single.

The ThunderBolts faced more trouble in the 2nd inning as Washington loaded the bases on three consecutive bunt singles and nobody out.  In a wild twist of events CJ Beatty lined out to Mike Torres and set up a 4-3-6 triple play.  The triple play was just the 2nd trio of outs in ThunderBolts history.

Windy City added one run in the bottom of the 2nd as Andrew Brauer led off with a walk.  Two batters later, Doug Joyce tripled bringing home Brauer and putting the ThunderBolts on the board.

With two out and nobody in the top of the 4th, rain started to fall and the game was suspended.

Play will resume from that point at 3:05 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Standard Bank Stadium and the ThunderBolts and Wild Things will finish a full nine innings.  Game three which was originally scheduled for 5:05 p.m. tomorrow will begin a half hour after game two’s end and only last seven innings.
