Biography:
Tyler LaPorte is in his second year with the ThunderBolts and fourth as a pro in 2024. He was acquired in a trade with the New Jersey Jackals in exchange for Mike DeSanti on August 14, 2023 and allowed only one earned run over nine appearances down the stretch. Tyler spent the majority of his first three seasons with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League. He appeared in 44 total games for them and compiled an 0-2 record and 6.64 ERA. Prior to joining the ThunderBolts, he pitched in one game for the New Jersey Jackals.
LaPorte attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and played there for two years as an infielder. He hit .349 overall, including .377 as a senior in 2019, when he hit six home runs, drove in 65 runs and stole 21 bases. That year, he was named the Co-Player of the Year in the SWAC. He also spent two years at Baton Rouge Community College, where he batted .342 over 94 total games. He attended Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. |
