Danny Zardon is in his first season with the ThunderBolts and sixth as a professional in 2021. He signed as a free agent on May 21, 2021. Zardon began his career when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 17th round in 2016. He played in 54 games over two seasons with the Phillies, rising as high as Class A Lakewood and hitting a combined .211 with 21 RBIs. Danny then joined the Joliet Slammers, where he batted .261 over two years with 16 home runs and 110 RBIs and was twice named an all-star. He was a member of the Slammers' 2018 Frontier League championship team.
In 2019, he joined the Chicago Cubs organization, appearing in 16 games across two levels and hitting .162. He also began to pitch with the Cubs, throwing five innings over four games. He continued his transition to pitcher in the City of Champions Cup in 2020, where he appeared in three games with a 9.00 ERA.
Zardon was exclusively a position player in college, playing two years at LSU, where he hit .281 cumulatively. In 2016, he transferred to Nova Southeastern and hit 15 homers for the Division II National Champion. He attended American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.
