Y’alls walk off ThunderBolts in series opener

FLORENCE, KY – After scoring four runs in the top of the ninth to tie the score, the Windy City ThunderBolts were walked-off by the Florence Y’alls Friday night, as the Bolts fell 10-7 at Thomas More Stadium.
Windy City (54-46) got the scoring started on a Daryl Ruiz RBI base knock in the top of the second. The Bolts added another run in the top of the third on a Justin Fogel RBI base hit to take an early 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Florence (54-46) scored three runs on two hits to take a 3-2 lead into the middle innings.
Windy City got back on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth via a Tony Livermore RBI single to tie the game at 3-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Y’alls retook the lead with three more runs on two singles and four free passes before adding an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to take a 7-3 lead into the ninth inning.
Down to their final out, the Bolts saw two-out hits from Michael Sandle, Justin Fogel and Jared Beebe tie the score and send the game to the bottom of the frame where, in the bottom of the ninth, Marcus Brodil connected on a three-run walk-off home run to win the game for Florence.
Aidan McEvoy (5-5) got the win for the Y’alls after recording the final out of the top of the ninth. Carter Delaney (10-2) was hit with the loss for the Bolts.
The ThunderBolts return to action Saturday for the second game of the weekend series against the Y’alls. Tyler Wehrle (7-3, 3.19) gets the start for the Bolts. He’ll be opposed by Jonaiker Villalobos (4-5, 5.26) for the Y’alls. First pitch is scheduled for 5:36 p.m. CDT and broadcast information is available at wcthunderbolts.com.
