ThunderBolts Defeat Y’alls, Force Decisive Regular Season Finale on Sunday

BOX SCORE

FLORENCE, KY – On the back of a Justin Lovell five-out save, the Windy City ThunderBolts defeated the Florence Y’alls Saturday night 6-4 at Thomas More Stadium to force a decisive win-and-in game in the regular season finale.

Windy City (55-46) opened the scoring in the top of the first on RBIs from Jared Beebe and Carlos Pena to take an early 2-0 lead.

A James Dunlap RBI single in the third and a Beebe RBI base knock in the fourth pushed the Bolts’ lead to 4-0 before Florence (54-47) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Justin Fogel delivered an RBI base hit to make it 5-1 before a 90-minute rain delay.

After the lengthy delay, Florence got two runs in the bottom of the seventh on an inside-the-park home run from Hank Zeisler to cut the Windy City lead in half.

The Bolts got a run back in the top of the eighth on a Tony Livermore RBI single before the Y’alls plated one themselves in the home half of the inning.

In the ninth, Lovell, who came on and recorded the final two outs of the eighth inning, pitched a scoreless inning to clinch the win for the Bolts.

Tyler Wehrle (9-3) picked up the win for Windy City, allowing one run on three hits in five innings. Jonaiker Villalobos (4-7) was hit with the loss after surrendering four runs in four innings. Lovell picked up his 10th save of the season after recording the final five outs for the Bolts.

The ThunderBolts return to action Sunday for a win-or-go-home clash in the regular season finale against the Y’alls. Isaac Milburn (5-4, 4.87) gets the start for the Bolts, while Nathan Lawson (6-1, 5.72) gets the nod for the Y’alls. First pitch is scheduled for 12:07 p.m. CDT and broadcast information is available at wcthunderbolts.com.
