Bums 3 Bolts 2

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The ThunderBolts took two early leads but the Traverse City Beach Bums were able to come back twice to defeat the Bolts 3-2 at Wuerfel Park Friday night.

Riley Krane led off the second inning for the ThunderBolts (9-14) with a single and moved to second when Darius Day walked. Ransom LaLonde brought him home on a two-out RBI single to get the scoring started.

Will Landsheft started for the Bolts but had to leave after only one inning and Max Dwyer came out of the bullpen for his professional debut. Dwyer retired the first four batters he faced but walked the next four, forcing in the tying run.

Larry Balkwill’s solo homer in the fourth put the ThunderBolts back ahead at 2-1 before Traverse City (10-14) came back with their first three hits of the game in the fifth inning. Isaac Benard and Luke Lowery both doubled to tie the score and Lowery scored the go-ahead run on a Steve Lohr single.

The Bolts put the tying run on second base with less than two outs in each of the final three innings but in each case, they were unable to advance him.
