The Chicago White Sox announced that former ThunderBolts broadcaster, Jason Benetti, will be the play-by-play television announcer for almost all White Sox home games at U.S. Cellular Field.  The move comes after longtime White Sox announcer Ken Harrelson takes on a lighter schedule for the 2016 season.  With the exception of the home opener and the White Sox-Cubs series, Harrelson will take on an all-road schedule with the White Sox.  This means that Benetti will be in the booth for 78 of the 81 White Sox home games.

Benetti was the ThunderBolts play-by-play radio broadcaster during the 2005 season.  The Homewood native and Syracuse University graduate was a fan favorite in his short time with the Bolts.  His style and humor was noticed as he was hired by the Houston Astros' Single-A affiliate Salem Avalanche in 2006.  Benetti continued his rise working for the Big East Tournament, High Point University, in-studio radio host for the University of Notre Dame football, WestwoodOne Radio, and the Washington Nationals' Triple-A affiliate Syracuse Chiefs.  He is currently broadcasting college basketball games on the ESPN family of networks and college football for the AAC Network.

When speaking on his time with the ThunderBolts, Jason Benetti commented, "I loved my time with the ThunderBolts and still tell stories about my first full season of baseball that came in Crestwood.  The people there, led by Mike Lucas, have always been kind to me."
