Bolts win suspended game in Washington

WASHINGTON, PA – After Friday night's game was suspended, tied at three in the ninth inning, the ThunderBolts scored a run in the top of the tenth to claim a 3-2 win from the Washington Wild Things Saturday evening.

Zac Westcott of the ThunderBolts and Chase Cunningham of the Wild Things were locked in a pitchers’ duel early as both pitchers had faced the minimum through three innings.

In the sixth, Washington finally broke through as Rashad Brown singled and Mike Hill walked before Bralin Jackson came through with a two-out RBI single. Kane Sweeney followed with an RBI base hit of his own to put the Wild Things ahead 2-0.

That score held into the ninth when the Bolts came up with a two-out rally. Kyle Wood doubled and Blair Beck and Larry Balkwill each walked to load the bases. Ransom LaLonde hit a grounder to short that Trevin Sonnier couldn’t handle. The error scored a run and kept the game alive for Austin Darby, who laced a single to center field, giving the ThunderBolts their first lead at 3-2.

Washington came back as Jackson doubled and Sweeney singled him in to begin the ninth, tying the score before play was halted.

In the top of the tenth inning, after play resumed on Saturday, Kyle Wood doubled and scored on a Blair Beck base hit.

Brian Loconsole (1-0) pitched both innings on Saturday and picked up the win. Brian O'Keefe (0-1) took the loss.

The Bolts and Wild Things will play a seven-inning second game at 6:05. Brady Muller (0-1, 4.50) gets the game two start for the Bolts and he will be opposed by Washington’s Jordan Schwartz (0-0, 0.00). The game broadcast can be heard through wcthunderbolts.com.
