ThunderBolts Transactions

The weather in Crestwood is warming up and that means one and only one thing: ThunderBolts baseball. As the season gets closer, the roster is getting close to being finalized. The Windy City ThunderBolts have announced that Vinnie Scarduzio, Nate Hall, and Pete Paris will be returning for the 2010 season. These three veterans will bring experience to a high-octane ThunderBolts lineup.
Vinnie Scarduzio is a left-handed outfielder who played his college career at Florida Gulf Coast University. Scarduzio has been a power threat at every level. At Florida Gulf Coast, he led the team in home runs, both seasons he played. Last year, his power carried over to the Frontier League where he hit 16 homers, which was tied for 2nd on the ThunderBolts team. Vinnie was a staple in the outfield, where he played in 88 games. In 2009, for the ThunderBolts, he batted .268 with 20 doubles and 49 RBIs.
Nate Hall is a product of Coalfield, TN, and handled the hot corner duties for the majority of last season for the Windy City ballclub. Before arriving on the scene in Crestwood, he played his college days at UNC-Wilmington. There, he led the team in batting average and earned First-Team Colonial Athletic Conference Honors. His professional debut was north of the border for the Ottawa Rapidz. He was acquired by the ThunderBolts via a trade before the 2009 campaign. In 71 games last year, he batted .291 with 16 doubles and 31 RBIs.
Another important lefty bat for the ThunderBolts in 2010 will be Pete Paris, of Scranton, PA. Pete, a 6’1” catcher, was brought to the ThunderBolts through a trade with the River City Rascals in the middle of the 2009 season. Before Pete’s professional career began, he played at Georgia College & State University. Pete only played in 32 games in 2009 for the ThunderBolts. In his short time, he was successful with a .286 average and 24 RBIs. He looks to build off his success last year for Windy City in 2010.
These three ball players look to be taking the field for the ThunderBolts on an every day basis in 2010. The ThunderBolts have already announced the signings of Mike Sullivan, Gilberto Mejia, and J.T. Restko. With the addition of Scarduzio, Hall, and Paris, the Windy City ThunderBolts are looking to improve on their offense, which was 7th in the league in runs scored last season.

The ThunderBolts home opener is scheduled for Thursday, May 20th at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, Illinois at 7:05 p.m. against the Kalamazoo Kings.  Individual game tickets will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1st.  For more information, call the ThunderBolts box office at 708-489-2255 or visit us on the web at www.wcthunderbolts.com
