SCHAUMBURG, IL – The ThunderBolts suffered their worst loss of the season Friday night when the Schaumburg Boomers handed them a 13-2 defeat at Boomers Stadium.

Schaumburg led throughout after they scored three first-inning runs, all with two outs. Gerard Hall was on second after a bunt single and an error when the rally started. Justin Vasquez doubled Hall home and Vasquez scored on a Ty Nelson single. Brian McConkey walked to move Nelson to second base before Bobby Martin’s single scored him.

The ThunderBolts chipped away at the lead early, scoring a run in the second and one in the third. Ryan Soares walked to begin the second inning and moved to second on an Andrew Brauer single before scoring on an error.

In the third, two hits and a walk loaded the bases with no outs, but the Bolts managed just one run on a Soares fielder’s choice, making it 3-2.

The Boomers opened their lead up with three more runs in the third. Vasquez singled to begin the inning and scored on a Nelson double. Mike Valadez’s single scored Nelson and Bobby Martin, who had reached on a fielder’s choice scored on another one when Alexi Colon grounded out.

The Boomers had three more runs in them in the sixth. Again it was Vasquez starting the damage with a single. He would score on McConkey’s double. Ty Nelson reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on Martin’s single and Valadez’s groundout scored McConkey.

The final four runs were scored in the eighth. Hayden Shirley hit one batter and walked two before Colon doubled home two runs. Valadez scored on a wild pitch and Colon crossed the plate on a Gerard Hall groundout.
